Thirty-seven new posts this week, which is frankly excessive and I regret nothing. House and drum and bass split the week almost down the middle, trance showed up with a couple of proper anthems, and Amelie Lens reminded everyone that techno still exists and is still terrifying. Isam Hadjih feat. Ormella - In My Dreams
Posted back in March and still refusing to leave the chart six months later, now sitting at the top of the weekly board. That bassline was doing criminal amounts of work when we first posted it and apparently it hasn’t clocked out. A deep house track with staying power like this tells you something: sometimes the simple ones just win. Listen →
The New Drops
House (9 posts): House ran the week. Barbara Tucker’s vocal on the Most Precious Love Copyright Remix proved that real soulful house never goes out of style, Max Chapman brought the tech house groove, and Vluarr got weird with bass house in the best way. Illyus & Barrientos with Angie Brown was a proper dancefloor weapon.
Drum and Bass (9 posts): Matching house blow for blow. The full spectrum showed up: Koven delivered stadium melodic dnb, Pola & Bryson got emotional with Harriet Jaxxon, Mefjus and Annix tried to collapse a building with neurofunk, and Sota leaned jump up. Nine posts and not a boring one in the bunch.
Electronic (5 posts): Chrome Sparks made the most beautiful thing we posted all week with Pluto, and excape. went full ambient melodic. The quieter corner of the blog, and sometimes that’s exactly right.
Dubstep (4 posts): Zero and Killa P linked grime and dubstep on Get Dark, EAZYBAKED x Distinct Motive went experimental and heavy, and Lens brought deep dubstep back from the basement. Reece Rosé rounded it out with melodic dubstep. A solid week for the low end.
Big Room / Dance (4 posts): AFROJACK and Martin Garrix got the Julian Jordan remix treatment, HALŌ brought half the mainstage for Live Again, and Blackcode went full NRG. Festival season may be winding down but nobody told these producers.
Trance (3 posts): ARTY, LAWTON with Trancemaster Krause, and Key4050 all showed up. Three posts, three different corners of trance, all of them good. Trance is having a moment and I will not be taking questions.
Trap (2 posts): BraydenK and Duke Gray on melodic bass, REXY=DEXY on something heavier. Small sample, both banged.
Techno (1 post): Amelie Lens with come closer. One post, but it was an Amelie Lens post, so it counts double.
