This is the good kind of stupid heavy. EAZYBAKED and Distinct Motive link up for a slab of experimental dubstep that spends its first minute pretending to be a pretty melodic tune before the floor rots out beneath it. The title keeps asking what the motive is and the drop answers by trying to rearrange your organs. It sits at that slow, gluey 140 where every bass note has real weight and space around it. What gets me is the low end design, a patch that gargles and folds in on itself like it’s chewing something it shouldn’t be. There’s a half second of dead silence right before the second drop that lands harder than any riser could, a little cliff you don’t see coming the first time through. EAZYBAKED have always leaned weird over clean and this is them fully committing to the bit. It’s grimy and a bit ridiculous and it flattens a room with a proper sub. Find one and turn it up.
