Fifty-four posts in seven days. Dubstep took the biggest slice with ten, DnB came in right behind at nine, and the big-room crowd showed up like 2014 never ended. A Mauro Picotto double feature, Andy C making rooms lean forward, and Flux Pavilion refusing to become a nostalgia act. Not a quiet week.

Track of the Week
Da Hool - Meet Her at the Loveparade (Hex Cougar Remix)
A 1998 trance anthem dragged into the present and it just tore through the chart. Hex Cougar kept the original hook untouched and buried everything around it in bass, which turns out to be exactly the move. The riff is one of those sounds that works in any decade. The remix proves it. Listen →
The New Drops
Dubstep (10 posts): The week’s heaviest section by a mile. Flux Pavilion and Franky Nuts brought the camp, Sir Spyro pulled Top Cat onto a riddim, four deep dubstep cuts from PARA & Kaya through SHOSH, and Phosphr at the noisier end. Ten dubstep posts and none of them sounded alike.
Drum and Bass (9 posts): Andy C, Friction, Culture Shock, ATMOS & XTC on the dark side. Grafix, Zero T, and Sota & Circadian holding it down for liquid. The S.P.Y remix of Flava D’s Energy is the best thing to happen to that track.
Dance / Big Room (7 posts): KAAZE, MatricK, DOMENO, Josh Le Tissier. The festival stack. Sigala went piano house and CYRIL reworked Cyndi Lauper’s Time After Time into something your mum and your DJ friend can agree on.
House (6 posts): Rae Sada, Oden & Fatzo x THEOS, Mason Collective x Route 94, Piero Pirupa bringing the bounce, Sace and Doppenberg filling out the rest.
Trance (5 posts): Mauro Picotto showed up twice: Lilly Palmer reworking Komodo into peak-time techno, and the Lizard reboot with Luvstruck. mOat & The Glimmers and James Marley kept things moving. Infected Mushroom closed the genre out at 145bpm. That one barely qualifies as trance and fully qualifies as unhinged.
Melodic (4 posts): Calcou, Dominic Donner, Blake Farfan with a Blackmill remix, and vinter. The headphones-after-midnight corner of the week.
Trap (3 posts): ARMNHMR & AVELLO, Koastle & Port London, VARI. Short stack but all worth your time.
Wave (2 posts): angelrot x s33ya and Sidewalks and Skeletons. Dark and patient. Not here to make friends.
The rest scattered across hard techno (Conrad Taylor), bass (SAM WAITIN, NOISECREAM), indie electronic (Ghost Jr), and a handful of moody electronic cuts from LLow, Midnight Pass, NIVIRO, and Mia Miles. Enough to keep digging if you finish everything above.
Also Banged This Week
- Andy C - Body Cage (ft. Bloom Twins): thirty years in DnB and the man makes you wait for a drop like it costs extra. It does not disappoint. Listen →
- Flux Pavilion & Franky Nuts - Righteous Valkyrie: two generations of dubstep agreeing on what hits hardest. Loud and ridiculous. Listen →
- Sir Spyro & Top Cat - Sharp: a jungle legend toasting over a dubstep riddim. This booking should have happened a decade ago. Listen →
- Lilly Palmer x Mauro Picotto - Komodo: a riff from 2000 hauled onto a techno floor. Twenty-five years old. That riff is unkillable. Listen →
- Infected Mushroom & Blastoyz - Smashing Pumpkins: 145bpm, zero brakes, gloriously stupid fun for a very specific 2am. Listen →
See you next week. Coldplay still sucks.
