Someone put this on at the end of a barbecue that had run out of steam and the garden refilled inside a minute. “Revival” earns its title honestly. Flava D has been one of the sharpest bass producers in the UK for a decade, and here she stitches a garage swing onto a dubstep low end so the whole thing bounces instead of just flattening you. DRIIA’s vocal is a hook you’ll be humming before the first chorus is done, and Casey Club keeps the drums light enough that it never tips into the humourless side of bass music. The drop doesn’t try to knock you over; it makes it physically difficult to stand still, which is harder. I don’t know how something this heavy stays this friendly. It’s the rare bit of UK bass you could play to your mum and to a warehouse in the same week and survive both.
