Thirty-seven tracks went up and the through-line was hard to miss: this was veterans week. Dubstep and bass technically posted the most, but the ones that stuck were old hands doing exactly what they’ve always done, sharper than the field. Photek reappeared out of nowhere, Fred V rang up Ayah Marar, AC Slater dug a rave relic out of the ground — and somewhere under all that, Seven Lions quietly posted twice and nobody blinked.

Photek - 30 Seconds Out
Photek disappears for years at a stretch and comes back sounding like a sniper cleaning his rifle. “30 Seconds Out” is all tension and negative space — drums mixed so dry you could count the individual hits, and a passage around 1:40 where he pulls almost everything out except a single tom and lets it hang there long enough to make you nervous. The whole scene got louder and busier while he was gone, and he answered by doing the opposite. The New Drops
Dubstep & bass (~9 posts) — The week’s loudest room. Seven Lions showed up twice, the cinematic Asleep in the Garden of Infernal Stars for the headphones-in-the-dark crowd and the festival-built Breaking Me for the field-full-of-hands crowd, while Chozen built a whole hook out of a sound somewhere between a brass stab and a garbage truck reversing.
House (~7 posts) — Every dialect turned up. Kym Sims got a soulful rework, Nordfold went deep, and the Eelke Kleijn remix of Joris Voorn’s Horizon takes four patient minutes to arrive and rewards every second of the wait.
Drum & bass (~6 posts) — Smaller pile, biggest names on it. Photek’s up top, but Benny L also dragged original jungle MC Cleveland Watkiss onto a jump-up tune, and Fred V reunited with Ayah Marar for the prettiest heartbreak here (more below).
Trance (~3 posts) — Quiet corner, loyal as ever. Armin dusted off Sunny Days for a summer rework and Solarstone went full emotional rollercoaster.
Big room & dance (~4 posts) — Mainstage fuel from AFROJACK and a couple of festival-sized builds for when you want your drops obvious and your hands already up.
Melodic & everything else (~8 posts) — The soft landing. WHIPPED CREAM, a producer known for caving your chest in, went tender and lo-fi instead, plus a fistful of indie-electronic and dance-pop to keep the playlist from getting too mean.

- Fred V & Ayah Marar - Daydreaming — liquid DnB with so much space left around the vocal that the drop at 1:40 lifts underneath her instead of stomping on her. Play it for someone who swears they don’t like DnB and watch them go quiet. Listen →
- AC Slater x Lock ‘N’ Load - Blow Ya Mind — a rave relic flipped into a bass-house weapon; I had a stupid grin on my face by the second drop. Listen →
- Benny L & Cleveland Watkiss - Metaphors — air-raid jump-up under a jungle legend’s vocal, and the bass converses with him instead of flattening him. Rowdy and soulful at once, which almost never happens. Listen →
- Chozen - Get Em Up — experimental bass that actually goes somewhere, with a half-time switch in the second drop that feels like the track tripping down the stairs and landing on its feet. Listen →
