Kym Sims’ “Too Blind To See It” has been a house record since 1991, and dragging a vocal that iconic into 2026 is a risk: get it wrong and you’ve defaced a classic. Ridney and Richard Earnshaw get it right by not overthinking it. This rework keeps Sims’ original vocal front and centre, all warmth and Chicago attitude, and simply gives it a modern, plush soulful-house bed to sit on. The bassline is round and organic, the kind that sounds like it was played rather than programmed, and there’s a piano riff around 1:50 that lifts the whole thing into pure Sunday-afternoon territory. This is the soulful end of house, the stuff that values groove and feeling over drops and drama, and it’s a corner of the genre the blog doesn’t visit often enough. Earnshaw has spent decades making exactly this kind of record and his fingerprints are all over the tasteful restraint here. A classic vocal treated with respect and given a second life. Timeless in the way only a proper house record can be.
