Big, bright, unashamed festival melodic dubstep, and sometimes that’s exactly the meal you want. More Than A Feeling pairs LUCKY’s widescreen production with Emma Somi, whose voice does the heavy lifting in the intro before the synths swallow everything. The drop is that euphoric half-time stomp the genre has been refining since roughly 2015, equal parts tearjerker and chest-thump. There’s nothing here you haven’t heard shaped a hundred other ways, and the songwriting is sturdy enough that I didn’t care. Emma Somi’s topline is the real draw, soaring without going full diva, and the second drop pitches her vocal up into the melody so she becomes part of the synth stack. The breakdown drops to a lone piano for a few bars, a cheap trick that works on me every single time. It’s the musical equivalent of a sunset photo everyone has already seen, and still worth stopping for. Stick it on loud when you need an easy win.
