Dion Timmer - BE URS

You already know if you’re the audience for this one. It’s Dion Timmer, so it’s clean, melodic, and engineered within an inch of its life. “BE URS” puts as much care into the pretty half as the heavy half: a sung hook and glassy synths up top, then a drop that’s precise rather than filthy, every sound sitting exactly where he wants it. Timmer’s been doing this since he was a teenager and the polish shows, sometimes almost too much, like the track’s been sanded smooth enough to lose a little danger. But the melody carries it. The second drop flips the vocal into a chopped, pitched-up counter-melody that’s the best thirty seconds here. If you want your bass music with feelings bolted on instead of pure aggression, Timmer’s better at that balance than most people trying it. The polish is the point and the limit at once. This is him at his most Dion Timmer, which I mean as roughly seventy percent compliment.
