Everything But The Girl - Run A Red Light (Logistics Remix)
Tracey Thorn’s voice is unmistakable inside two bars, and handing another EBTG song to a dance producer is a small piece of poetry if you know the history — “Missing” got turned into a global smash by a house remix in the nineties, basically writing the whole playbook. Logistics, a Hospital Records lifer, wraps liquid drum and bass around that vocal without ever stepping on it. The sorrow stays intact. The drums just carry it somewhere new. Listen →
The New Drops
House (10 posts) — House ran the week by sheer volume. The one nobody saw coming was a live reworking of Moby’s “Natural Blues” where Jacob Lusk from Gabriels sings the Vera Hall sample in person — a loop from 1999 turned into a living, breathing thing. Don Diablo’s 2012-2014 nostalgia mix was dangerously effective. Oden & Fatzo keep getting better.
Drum and Bass (8 posts) — DnB ate close behind. BOP’s “Rumination” was the quiet stunner on the liquid side, while Pythius repossessed Modestep’s “Bugatti” for neurofunk and REAPER & DON DARKOE made a track that sounds like a panic attack set to 174 BPM.
Dubstep (6 posts) — Seven Lions and Kill The Noise made the collab you’d hope for and didn’t overthink it. Flava D stitched garage swing onto a dubstep low end and called it “Revival,” which it earned. Kompany & LAYZ named a track “Hit Marker” and delivered with the subtlety of a killstreak.
Big Room / Dance (6 posts) — Festival energy from 2ACES, HEDEGAARD, and the Spinnin’ pipeline. Chase Maverix flipped “Bette Davis Eyes” into a main-stage track and I’m still not convinced it landed.
Future Bass / Melodic (5 posts) — Last Sun earned a MrSuicideSheep spot. No Mana’s synth lead sounds like a modem having a religious experience.
Trance (2 posts) — Eelke Kleijn made music for four in the morning. York’s “On The Beach” is still soundtracking sunburns after twenty-six years.
