• This Week on coldplaysucks — June 14–21

Big week, and house ran it. We posted a pile of tracks and the four-on-the-floor crowd showed up deepest — tech house, soulful house, afro house, the works. Drum and bass kept pace right behind, trance refused to die, and somewhere in the middle a bunch of producers flipped songs that have no business still hitting this hard in 2026. Coldplay released nothing. The week improved accordingly.

    Track of the Week

Sigma, Soul II Soul, Capo Lee & Zimma - BACK 2 LIFE (ft. Liv Campbell)

Flipping “Back to Life” is a way to get yourself run out of town, so Sigma did the smart thing and brought the actual originators along instead of sampling them and praying. Liv Campbell gives the vocal room, the grime side keeps it from turning into a heritage act, and the breakdown where the original melody surfaces gave me genuine goosebumps — not a thing I say about festival-ready liquid DnB. Some crowd-pleasers earn it. This one does. Listen →

    The New Drops

House (the week’s biggest pile) — No contest. THEMBA’s “Sorofe” was the standout, all hand percussion and patience, the kind of afro house where the drop was never the point. Everything from Calle Lebraun’s UK swing to Equation’s soulful edit to Trilucid’s deep cuts. If you skipped house this week you skipped the week.

Drum & Bass — Right on house’s heels. The flips did the heavy lifting — Sigma up top, plus Far East Movement getting dragged into rolling DnB (more on that below). Document One, Rova, and Tantrum Desire held down the heads-down end.

Dubstep & Bass — Loud and unbothered. Flux Pavilion brought “Bass Cannon” back with a Crankdat coat of paint, k?d went full robot, and Taiki Nulight roped P Money in for something filthy.

Trance — Still alive, still soaring. Paul Oakenfold and Markus Schulz teamed up, SUPERSTRINGS went uplifting, and Darren Styles hit the hard-dance lane.

Trap — Smaller but mean. Chase & Status’ “BADDADAN” got the KNOCK2 treatment and it demolishes in a whole different register.

    Also Banged This Week

    • Far East Movement & The Cataracs - Like A G6 (Manila Killa Remix) — the 2010 club anthem rebuilt as DnB, and somehow it rips. Listen →
    • THEMBA - Sorofe — hypnotic afro house, the corner of the genre I wish more people paid attention to. Listen →
    • k?d - breathe (feat. Nevve) — loud, weird, and a little bit beautiful. Listen →
    • KAIVON - To Build A Home — earnest melodic bass that commits so hard the cynicism slides right off. Listen →
    • Chase & Status - BADDADAN (KNOCK2 RMX) — both versions are getting somebody hurt in a pit tonight. Listen →

That’s the week. House won, Coldplay lost, see you next Sunday.

2 minutes. Could've been a Coldplay verse. You chose better.

Jun 2026 — Revealed Recordings is Hardwell’s house, which usually means festival fireworks engineered to detonate at exactly the right second for the drone footage. MatricK plays that game...
