Poison is a fight starter. Sota built this for the exact moment in a set when the room has settled into a comfortable groove and needs to be shaken out of it, and it does that job with zero manners. The bass is a jump-up snarl, all attack and no apology, the kind that makes teenagers pull that face and makes everyone over forty leave the room. There’s a switch about halfway through where the whole thing double-times and briefly loses its mind before snapping back into the pocket. I don’t reach for jump-up often because it turns cartoonish fast, and this stays just the right side of the line by keeping the drums genuinely nasty instead of novelty. It wants the floor and it simply takes it. On a big system the low end has a shove to it that you feel in the chest before anywhere else. Three plays in and I still can’t sit still through the second half. It clears a room of everyone who was never going to be any fun anyway.
