• Hedex, Travy, XTEN & Overlook - Ok Ok

This is the most fun I’ve had with a jump-up tune in ages. “Ok Ok” is four names crammed onto one track and somehow it never turns into a mess — everyone’s clearly there to make you gurn, not to show off. Hedex builds these basslines that basically talk, wobbling out syllables where a bassline has no business having consonants, and this one has a hook so bratty it feels illegal. The energy is pure Friday-night, sweat-dripping-off-the-ceiling dnb, the sort that gets a whole room bouncing on the same beat without anyone deciding to. There’s a vocal chop that keeps stuttering the title back at you until it stops being words and starts being percussion. I don’t reach for jump-up as often as I probably should, and every time something this daft and gleeful shows up I remember exactly why the genre exists. Zero pretension, maximum bounce, and gone before it can wear out its welcome. Absolutely feral in the best possible way.

1-min read. About as long as a Coldplay key change takes to ruin a song.
