• [IVY] - Vertigo

Who is [IVY] and why has nobody put them in front of me sooner? “Vertigo” is neurofunk-adjacent DnB with a bassline that genuinely lurches — the name is earned, because there’s a woozy pitch-bend running through the drop that makes the floor feel like it’s tilting under you. The drum programming is razor-tight, all crisp snares and rolling breaks, but it’s that seasick low-end wobble that hands the track its identity. It lives at the dark, technical end of drum and bass without ever disappearing up its own complexity; you can still nod to it, it still moves a body. Around the 2-minute mark there’s a switch where the bass drops an octave and everything gets meaner. I’ve had it looping while working and it keeps yanking my attention back at that exact spot, every single pass. This feels like a producer with a real point of view rather than someone painting by the neurofunk numbers. Whoever [IVY] is, I want to hear more.

1-min read. About as long as a Coldplay key change takes to ruin a song.
