gabriawll makes the pretty, wistful end of electronic music, and “One Day” is a small heartbreak with a beat under it. It’s future-bass-adjacent, lush and chord-heavy, built around a vocal that sounds like it’s looking back at something it can’t quite name. The drop blooms open on warm supersaws, and the melody aches more than it bangs. This is the stuff that soundtracks the emotional-climax edit, and gabriawll does it with a lighter touch than most, resisting the urge to pile on more layers than the song actually needs. There’s a piano line in the bridge that’s genuinely lovely and totally unafraid to be sentimental. The vocal gets doubled an octave up on the final chorus, a small move that tipped the whole thing over for me, from pleasant into genuinely affecting. Some days you just want the track that makes you a bit sad on purpose, and this is squarely that one. gabriawll has a real gift for that specific, pleasant ache, and I’ve played “One Day” four times chasing it.
