• ARE WE DREAMING & Brian Tyler - Godlike

You’ve heard Brian Tyler’s music whether you know his name or not; the man has scored Fast & Furious sequels and half the Marvel B-team, and here he is turning up on a track split between NCS and Monstercat, the two channels that soundtrack every gaming montage on Earth. “Godlike” leans all the way into that lineage: cinematic, chest-puffing, built to play under a slow-motion shot of someone winning something. And you know what, it works on those terms. The intro stacks strings and a choir-ish pad like Tyler’s scoring a trailer, then around the minute mark it hands off to a big, bright electronic drop that’s pure Monstercat adrenaline. There’s a real composer’s instinct in how the tension gets stacked before the release, which is more than most anthem tracks bother with. It’s unapologetically epic, and it never once winks at you about it, which is the only reason it lands. It’s the audio equivalent of a slow-motion victory lap, and some nights that’s all you want out of four minutes.

1-min read. About as long as a Coldplay key change takes to ruin a song.
