Federal agents raided a sitting congresswoman’s home before sunrise on October 12th. Twenty-two days before the midterms. The Department of Justice sent Homeland Security Investigations to Ilhan Omar’s D.C. house, seized her phone, and issued a dozen subpoenas to her family members. The stated reason: they want to know if her family lied about her age when she immigrated from Somalia in 1995. She was twelve.
A prior inquiry in 2019 found insufficient evidence to pursue the claim. Nothing new surfaced. No charges filed. But three weeks before an election the administration desperately needs to win, federal agents showed up at dawn, took the phone of the most visible Muslim woman in Congress, and told reporters they acted independently. Trump said the same thing. Nobody had to give the order out loud.
This is what political intimidation looks like when it has a badge and a warrant. You don’t need to prove anything. You just need a calendar.
