• TESSERACTS - AIRBORNE

Why does drum and bass this widescreen still get slept on? AIRBORNE landed on Monstercat and has been wrecking my playlist for two days straight, a tune that earns its name by flat refusing to stay on the ground. TESSERACTS build the intro like a plane taxiing, all rising hum and held tension, and then the drop yanks the nose up and you’re gone. The bass sits in the melodic-heavy zone, more sung than snarled, so it lands on your chest and your ear at the same time. What I keep rewinding is the second breakdown, where a fragile synth arpeggio flutters over near silence before the drums slam back like a cabin losing pressure. It’s polished the way Monstercat likes it, clean edges and a mix built for big screens, but there’s real muscle under the shine. Plenty of tracks going for uplift stop at pretty. This one puts weight behind the pretty and actually gets off the runway. Three plays deep and I’m hunting for whatever else these two have made.

1-min. Faster than skipping past a Coldplay ad on Spotify.
