This one snuck up on me. “Who Do You Run To” is Leetthews and Cammie Robinson doing melodic drum and bass on Monstercat, and it’s got that clean, emotional-but-danceable thing the label has basically turned into a house style. Cammie Robinson has one of those voices Monstercat keeps in heavy rotation for a reason, warm, a little fragile, easy to build a big release around. The drop rolls rather than slams, all rounded bass and quick breaks, the kind of DnB you can play for people who swear they don’t like DnB and watch them nod along anyway. It’s the sort of crossover cut that does the recruiting for the genre without anyone noticing it happened. It’s a smooth, well-oiled version of a sound Monstercat has spent years sanding to a shine, and the vocal in the second breakdown is what keeps pulling me back, held just a beat longer than you expect. Easy to love, hard to fault.
