You already know whether liquid drum and bass is your thing, so let me just tell you this is a very good one. Archive Dust is Submorphics working the warm, musical end of the genre, the stuff that sounds like someone sampled a jazz record off dusty vinyl and then handed it to a breakbeat. The drums roll instead of batter, brushed and rounded off at the edges, and there’s a Rhodes-ish chord progression underneath that could carry the track on its own with the drums muted. What keeps it from sliding into coffee-shop wallpaper is the bassline, which hides a real growl under all the prettiness, a reminder this is still dance music built for a sweaty room at 2am. The title’s about right: the whole thing has a faded, second-hand quality, like a memory you’re not sure is actually yours. Submorphics has been excellent at this for years without ever becoming a household name, which says more about the genre’s ceiling than about him. It’s the sound of a Sunday you don’t want to end.

Oct 2026 —
No, the sync button isn't cheating. It automates beatmatching, the one mechanical part, and leaves the actual DJing untouched. The debate, settled.
