• Sea Master - From the ocean

Who is making dub techno this patient in 2026, and why had I never heard the name Sea Master before today? From the ocean is another Kompakt catch, and it leans harder into the label’s deep, aquatic end than the dancefloor one. The track actually sounds wet, all cavernous reverb and chords that surface and sink like something moving under the water, with a bassline you feel in your sternum well before your feet. It is closer to ambient than club, the kind of thing the old Chain Reaction catalogue perfected, built for headphones on a night walk rather than a packed room. There is a hiss running under the whole thing, tape or rain or both, that gives it a worn, physical quality a cleaner mix would have sanded right off. Twelve minutes would not have been too long. It clears out whatever noise is in your head and replaces it with one slow idea. Not for the gym, perfect for the comedown.

1 min in. Already a better experience than every Glastonbury main-stage set.
