Oliverse - Risk It All

Oliverse rarely misses and “Risk It All” is not the day he starts. It’s melodic dubstep with the emphasis genuinely split down the middle, a big yearning synth build handing off to a drop that actually bites rather than just glittering. The sound design is the draw, as always with this guy: the lead in the drop is a detuned, vocal-like growl that sounds like it’s straining to hit a note, and that human strain is the hook. He’s one of the few in this lane whose heavy sections feel designed rather than downloaded off a preset pack. The melody underneath is simple enough to sing and sad enough to mean it. My one gripe is the vocal sample, a little generic, the kind of anonymous emotive topline this whole subgenre leans on too hard. But the second the drop hits none of that matters. The growl in that first drop booked itself a spot in my head for the rest of the day, and it’s still there now.
