Not everything on Trap Nation is trying to break your ribs. lost on you is the soft side of the channel, Koastle and Port London making the melodic, melancholy kind of bass music that lands closer to a late-night text than a festival set. It is built on a fragile vocal and a beat that stays out of its way, all space and restraint where you might brace for a drop that never fully arrives. The sadness is the point, that specific 2am ache of missing someone you should not be thinking about, and the production is smart enough to underplay it, no reverb-drenched fake catharsis. There is a real tenderness to how little it does. Koastle has a feel for this understated melodic work and Port London matches it beat for beat. It is not built for a dancefloor. It is built for headphones and a rough night, and it is one of the better things to put on for one.
