Kisnou & Blure - Falling Deeper

I’ll just say it plainly: this is the prettiest record I’ve put on in weeks. Kisnou makes these sweeping, cinematic melodic tracks that feel purpose-built for standing on a cliff at sunrise, and “Falling Deeper” with Blure is him at his most widescreen yet. It opens on a vocal that sounds like it was sung at the far end of an enormous empty hall, then slowly stacks strings and a soft four-on-the-floor pulse beneath it until the whole thing turns genuinely enormous without ever once getting loud. There’s no drop in the drop-the-bass sense; the payoff is entirely emotional, a slow swell where every layer arrives at the same instant and your chest does something involuntary before your brain catches up. I’m a total sucker for this stuff and I’m well aware of it. Music this earnest could tip straight into sentimental mush in lesser hands, and Kisnou keeps it grounded with that steady low-end pulse just long enough to stay believable through the biggest moments. I put it on during a late drive through absolutely nothing, empty highway and dark fields, and the landscape suddenly had a soundtrack it never asked for. This was never trying to be a club record. It’s a last-train-home, forehead-on-the-glass record, and one of the best of those I’ve heard all year. Blure’s touch on the vocal is the small detail that ties the whole thing together.
