R3SPAWN, Stereohats & Linnea Schossow - Brighter Days

Linnea Schossow has one of those voices that makes an average track good and a good track excellent, and “Brighter Days” is firmly in the second camp. R3SPAWN and Stereohats build a warm, melodic electronic backdrop for her — uplifting without tipping into cheese — and the drop at 1:26 opts for an emotional, vocal-led lift rather than a bass-heavy slam. It’s a smart choice; Schossow’s voice carries the hook and the production stays out of her way. Revealed doesn’t always operate in this softer, more melodic register, and it’s a nice reminder that the label has more than one gear. There’s a plucked-synth motif that runs through the whole thing and quietly ties it together, and the moment at the second drop where the vocal harmonises with itself is genuinely lovely. It’s optimistic music without being naive about it — the “brighter days” of the title feel earned rather than assumed, which is a fine line most tracks like this trip right over. I put it on a grey Tuesday morning and it did, unironically, make the day feel a shade lighter. That’s the whole job, and it nails it.
