Some remixes politely improve on the original. A.M.C just bulldozes Circadian’s “Energy In Motion” flat and builds something meaner on the rubble. The man is a machine-gun on the drums, and this remix is him at full tilt: a bassline that snarls and reloads, drums so tight they sound programmed by someone holding a grudge. This is the aggressive end of dnb, the neuro-tinged jump-up stuff that clears the casual listeners out of the room and leaves the goblins up front. The second drop flips the bass pattern just when you’ve gotten comfortable, which is the whole art of this style. It’s ugly and precise and mean, built to detonate a rave at 1am and do nothing else with its life. A.M.C has been the reference point for technical dnb for years and tracks like this are the reason why. Get it on a big rig, turn it up past the point of good judgement, and let it wreck the room.
