Picture a festival at dusk, forty thousand people packed in, and the precise second the drums drop on this one. That is the exact feeling Andy C builds toward. “Come Together” pairs one of drum and bass’s genuine institutions with Mali Koa’s big soulful vocal, and the result is stadium-sized dnb that is going to be completely inescapable this festival season. Andy C knows exactly how to frame a voice like this. The verses build tension with a rolling bassline and restless hi-hats, Mali Koa soars over the top of it, and then the drop arrives with that clean euphoric hands-in-the-air energy he more or less patented. This kind of track is genuinely hard to make without tipping straight into cheese, and he threads the needle. The bassline keeps just enough grit to stop it becoming pure pop, and Mali Koa sings it like a real vocalist instead of a topline hired by the hour. The breakdown hands her a proper moment to herself before the second drop resets the whole room. This is going to be everywhere by the middle of festival season, and for once the ubiquity will be completely earned.
