The child was infrastructure. Central Command released a statement about “IRGC assets.” An asset, in Pentagon English, is whatever was standing where the missile landed.
This is the third time a US strike in this war has hit a civilian gathering. In Minab they hit an elementary school and killed over a hundred and fifty people. In Lamerd they hit a sports hall and killed twenty-one. Trump went on Truth Social to announce Monday’s strikes as a response to Iran placing mines in the Strait of Hormuz. He didn’t mention the wedding. He didn’t mention the child. He has never mentioned a single dead civilian by name or by number. The mines are real. The response is to send a missile into a living room full of people in formal clothes and call it proportional.
Nobody voted for this war. Congress never authorized it. There is no endgame anyone can describe out loud, because describing it would require admitting that the plan is to keep bombing until Iran does whatever Trump wants Iran to do, which changes every time he posts. One mine in a shipping lane, one dead child at a party. That’s the exchange rate this administration set. They won’t say it. But the math is the math.
