Third SubDocta drop from the WAKAAN run, and this one actually sounds like a party, unlike the other two which sounded more like a science experiment that got loose. SubDocta — real name Preston Charles — basically coined his own lane and called it “West Coast Wobble,” which is the most honest genre name in bass music because that’s exactly what it is: thick, gummy, rubber-band low end with a sense of humour built into it. He came up through Ganja White Night’s SubCarbon and Dirt Monkey’s 19K before landing on WAKAAN, and the WAKAAN signing makes total sense the second the drop lands here. “Pull Up To The Party” leans into the title. It’s got that bounce, that swagger, the kind of wobble that makes a crowd lose its collective mind rather than the heady experimental stuff he’ll wander into when he’s feeling weird. The bass design is gross in the best way, wet and elastic, and there’s a pocket in the second half where it just locks into a groove and rides it out. This is the one you play to convince a dubstep skeptic, while the other two from the batch are for when they’re already converted and want their brain melted. All three are worth your time, but this is the gateway drug. Loud room, low end you can feel in your teeth, no overthinking it. Pull up.
