• Retro Kid - Let It Out

Caught this one on a late drive with nobody else on the road and it fit the mood so exactly it felt rigged. Let It Out turned up on MrSuicideSheep, the channel that has introduced half a generation to melodic electronic music through a sheep logo and zero hype, and it is a prime example of what that channel does best. It is bright, emotional, melodic electronic music built around a vocal and a drop that goes for uplift over impact. Retro Kid is not a name you will see on a festival poster, and that is sort of the point with this channel: it runs on tracks, not reputations. The production is clean and warm, a synth lead that soars right when you want it to, the kind of thing that works equally well in headphones and in the background of a montage you are making in your head. There is nothing edgy about it, and I am not always in the mood for this much sincerity. Tonight, doing seventy with the windows down, it got me completely. Sometimes a track just meets you where you are, and this one knew exactly where I was.

1 minute. You read this in less time than Chris Martin says 'thank you, beautiful crowd'.
