Oden & Fatzo x Astels - Take Our Time (Extended Mix)

When did Oden & Fatzo turn into one of the most reliable names in house without anybody making a fuss about it? Take Our Time is seven-odd minutes of exactly why, a groove that locks in around the thirty-second mark and then flatly refuses to let go. This is a proper extended mix, built for a DJ to ride as long as the room allows, and the patience is the whole point. The bassline is fat and rubbery and handles about ninety percent of the work, while a chopped vocal drifts in and out saying something about time that I stopped trying to decode days ago. Defected has been on a genuine run and this sits right at the front of it. There’s a breakdown around the four-minute mark where the drums fall away and a single organ chord holds the entire floor in suspension before the kick strolls back in. I put it on to test my speakers and lost twenty minutes to it. The groove is the hook, and it’s one you would happily follow off a cliff. Straight into the late-night rotation this goes.
