• Nitro Fun, dnvn & Nito-Onna - if you wanna love me

The lead synth in if you wanna love me sounds like a video-game boss theme that wandered into a rave, bright saw-wave arpeggios stacked until they’re almost too much. Nitro Fun has always made music that grins, chiptune DNA bleeding into festival electro, and teaming with dnvn and Nito-Onna just piles on more sugar and more punch. The vocal is a simple pleading hook, chopped and pitched around until it’s basically another synth line in the stack. At 1:28 the drop hits and it’s pure serotonin, the kind of thing that would turn a tired Monstercat crowd back into teenagers for ninety seconds. There’s a breakdown just before it where the whole arrangement empties out to a single wobbling bleep, which somehow makes the payoff feel twice as big. It’s bright and daft and completely sure of itself, and I played it twice in a row before I noticed I was smiling.

1 min on this. Less time than the wait for the drop in a Coldplay 'banger'.
