You know the exact feeling a good Defected record is built to produce, that Friday-at-six release of tension, and Body Move is tuned straight to that frequency. Melé is one of the more interesting producers working the UK house circuit, a guy who came up making scrappy, bass-heavy club tracks before Defected and Eats Everything’s Edible label came calling, and he has never fully sanded off the grit. Here he pairs with IRAH for a vocal house cut that does precisely what the title orders. The groove is the whole thing: a rolling bassline with real low-end weight under it, a four-four kick that struts rather than pounds, a vocal that sits somewhere between a command and an invitation. What keeps it off the pile of identikit Defected uploads is that bass. Most big-label house keeps the low end polite and playlist-safe, and Melé lets his get a bit rude, a bit physical, which is the whole difference between a track you nod to and one that actually moves your hips. IRAH sells the hook without oversinging, which on a track this groove-focused is exactly right. It is not reinventing house music. It does not need to. It needs to work at 1am on a packed floor, and it will do that without breaking a sweat.
