“PRETTY GIRLS” is mean. Not aggressive-mean, more the sneering, eyebrow-raised kind. The vocal chops are pitched up into something almost taunting and then the drop drags them straight through gravel. HerShe and Sportmode have made a track that struts, which is rarer in bass music than you’d think; most of it just wants to knock you over, this one wants to walk past you slowly first. The low end at 1:15 does that WAKAAN thing where it feels like the speaker is chewing on the note rather than playing it. What keeps me coming back is the swagger in the arrangement, the way it holds the drop back a beat longer than you expect, so when it finally lands you’ve already leaned forward. There’s a breakdown near the two-minute mark that flips the vocal into something almost pretty before yanking it back into the dirt. Two producers clearly having a great time trying to out-nasty each other. Put it on loud somewhere it’ll annoy a neighbour.
