HEDEGAARD - Forever In Our Hearts

Spinnin’ knows exactly what a track like this is for, and so do you the second the build starts. HEDEGAARD is a Danish name you might half-remember from “Happy Home,” the one he did with Lukas Graham a decade back, and “Forever In Our Hearts” is him working the big, festival-ready dance sound the label prints money on. Here’s the honest version: the vocal hook is genuinely sticky, one of those wordless “oh-oh-oh” toplines built to be screamed back by forty thousand people who don’t speak the singer’s language. The drop, though, is the sound of a thousand Spinnin’ releases fused into one, a bright plucky lead doing precisely what the last bright plucky lead did, hitting its marks with the enthusiasm of a template on overtime. It’s not bad. It’s just so aggressively fine that I keep forgetting it while it’s still playing. There’s a nice half-time moment near the end that hints HEDEGAARD has more range than the brief allowed him. If you want uncomplicated festival fuel it delivers with a smile. I just wish the middle of it surprised me once. Play it at a pre-drink and nobody will complain.
