Friction tunes always sound mastered specifically to be the loudest thing in a 3000-capacity room, and Me & You keeps the streak alive. This is dancefloor drum and bass with no patience for subtlety, a big rolling bassline under a vocal hook built to be screamed back by a full field at 1am. He ran the DnB show on Radio 1 for years and built Shogun Audio into one of the genre’s proper institutions, so he reads a peak-time crowd better than the crowd reads itself. The hook does the heavy lifting, sweet and simple and stuck in your head by the second pass whether you asked for it or not. There is nothing dark or clever hiding in the corners and the track is plainly happier for it. It is festival fuel and it is extremely good at the one enormous job it set itself. Some nights the big obvious tune is the only right answer.
