Driving home after midnight with this on, I missed my exit and did not especially mind. More is a collaboration between Fink and Jan Blomqvist, two artists who come at electronic music from the song side, not the club, and it shows in the best way. Fink’s voice is a worn, intimate thing, all breath and cracked grain, and Blomqvist builds a patient, hypnotic groove beneath it that unfolds slowly. Nothing here detonates. It accumulates: a muted kick, a bassline you feel more than hear, little granular textures layering up until the whole thing has taken over the room without you noticing. Blomqvist is known for playing this material live with actual hardware, and you can feel that looseness in how the parts breathe against each other. There is a long stretch in the middle where almost nothing changes and it is somehow the most gripping section. This is end-of-the-night music, built for the drive and the comedown, and it understands those moments do not need a big payoff to land. Understated and genuinely moving, the rare Armada upload I would happily put on with the lights off.
