Via Rosa could sing a grocery list and I would still feel it. On Emotions she lays that warm, lived-in voice over a bed of lush melodic house from Sultan + Shepard, and the whole thing plays less like a club track than one long exhale. The groove is patient and deep, a soft rolling bassline and a kick you feel more than you hear, built for that 6am slot when the hard stuff has burned off and you only want to feel something. She sings about emotions with a plainness that should be corny and instead lands, because she commits to every word like she means it. The drop, if you can even call it that, is just the beat opening up and the pads swelling, no fireworks anywhere in sight. It is a track for good headphones and a bad mood. Seven minutes long and I wanted another seven.
