The breakdown drops out to nothing but a hi-hat and a single filtered chord for a full sixteen bars, and by the time the kick punches back in you’d follow it anywhere. Denis Sulta has always made house with a grin on it, that Glasgow party-starter energy that treats the dancefloor as the only serious subject in the world. “Push The Tempo” with Capri is exactly that: bouncy, a little cheeky, a vocal shouting the title like a dare. The extended mix earns its length by taking its time, letting the groove ride before it starts stacking elements on top. This is Friday-crowd house, made to be shouted along to rather than analysed. The bassline has a rubbery bounce that does most of the emotional lifting here, if a track this fun can be said to have emotional lifting to do. I’d drop it at the exact moment a party starts to sag.
