Boddika doesn’t miss. Half of Instra:mental, longtime Joy Orbison collaborator, and one of the few producers who can sit in the gap between deep dubstep and techno without sounding lost on either side. Acid Battery is exactly as nasty as the name suggests — a 303 line that snarls instead of squelches, riding a sub that you feel in your sternum before you hear it. The percussion is dry, brittle, almost annoying on purpose, and that’s the whole point. This is club music for people who hate the soft edges other producers keep adding to the genre. Play it on a real system or don’t bother.
