angelrot - backtoback

This one bites, and I did not see it coming from an NCS upload. backtoback is angelrot smashing hyperpop brightness into something with real low-end aggression, a sugar rush with a limp and a sneer. The vocals are pitched up into that glossy, genderless hyperpop register, then shredded through distortion until they land half as melody and half as malfunction. Underneath, the beat keeps lurching between a skittering trap hat pattern and sudden slabs of bass that hit like a door slamming in the next room. It’s chaotic and a bit bratty and over before it overstays its welcome, barely two and a half minutes of pure attitude. A squealing synth lead cuts across the second half like a siren sampled off a passing cop car, and that’s the exact second I knew I was keeping it. NCS gets written off as faceless gaming fuel, and then something like this slips through and reminds you there are actual weirdos uploading to it. Turn it up and let it annoy someone in the next room.
