Terence McKenna’s Stoned Ape pitch — that early hominids ate psilocybin mushrooms and accidentally unlocked language, consciousness, and the whole human-being deal — is one of those ideas that sounds completely insane until about three in the morning, at which point it sounds like the only thing that’s ever made sense. The video lays it out in his own words, which is the only way this stuff really works. Nobody talks like McKenna anymore and the internet is worse for it. Take it for what it is. A very good theory.
