Happy Summers Day

It’s hot, the sky is doing the blue thing, and somewhere a speaker is playing a song with too much reverb on the snare. That’s the report. Summer in this city lasts about fourteen real days and the rest is humidity pretending to be weather, so when an actual good one shows up you stop whatever you’re doing and acknowledge it. Walk somewhere with no destination. Buy a drink you wouldn’t normally buy. Text the friend you’ve been meaning to. The music will still be here tomorrow.
