“Delicate Roots” by Yebba. Just press play. You’ll get it. Yebba is the West Memphis singer who’s been quietly racking up co-writes and features for half the artists you actually listen to — Mark Ronson, Sam Smith, A Tribe Called Quest’s last record — while her own catalogue stays criminally underplayed. Her voice does that thing where it sounds like she’s not trying, then casually walks up an octave like it’s nothing. This one sits in a quieter register, more church than club, but the restraint is the whole point. Tagging it electronic is generous — it’s really just a voice and barely enough production to call it a track. That’s the move.
