• Timmy Trumpet - Not A Place (feat. Oaks) [MaRLo Remix]

Does the world need a MaRLo remix of a Timmy Trumpet song? I went looking for a reason and mostly came up empty. MaRLo takes Not A Place and does the expected thing, turning it into a big, uplifting trance-adjacent festival cut with a stadium-sized drop and Oaks’ vocal soaring over the top. It’s competently made and completely predictable, every element sanded to the same festival-ready gloss. The build does the slow-riser thing, the drop does the euphoric-lead thing, the breakdown does the hands-in-the-air thing, and none of it surprised me once. If you’re 40,000 people deep at a mainstage as the sun goes down, this probably hits like a truck. Alone with headphones on a weekday it’s just loud and shiny and a little empty. There’s a real market for exactly this, and Timmy Trumpet has served it faithfully for years; I’m just not the market. Not offensive, not memorable. I won’t be going back to it.

1 minute on this. That's longer than the bridge of any Coldplay song deserves.
