The Widdler - Zero G (Boogie T Remix)

There’s a moment about a minute in where the sub drops so low it stops being a note and turns into pressure against your sternum. That’s the Boogie T signature all over The Widdler’s original — he took a patient, dungeon-deep tune and gave it teeth without wrecking the mood. The Widdler builds these things like slow tide coming in; Boogie T’s whole job here is making sure the tide has a shark in it. What I love is how little he actually changed. The skeleton of “Zero G” stays intact, the same hypnotic swing, just with a meaner low end bolted underneath and a second drop that bares its knuckles. It’s the rare remix that respects the source it’s working from. I had it on in headphones on a bus and felt slightly unwell in the best possible way. For this strain of dubstep, that queasiness is the entire point. Weight for weight’s sake bores me stiff; this is weight with a reason behind it.
