SUPERSTRINGS - Balearic Temptation

There’s a guitar line in here, actual plucked strings, sitting right where you’d expect a synth arp, and it reframes the entire track. “Balearic Temptation” is SUPERSTRINGS doing exactly what the name promises, trance with one foot in the Ibiza sunset and the other on a festival mainstage. The build is patient in that classic uplifting-trance way, layering strings and a rising synth over a four-on-the-floor kick until the tension is almost too much, and then it releases into a euphoric lead that goes straight for the throat of anyone who grew up on this sound. I did, so it worked on me on contact. Big euphoric trance fell out of the conversation years ago, which somehow makes the breakdown here land even harder, all shimmering pads and that bittersweet chord progression the genre does better than anyone. The Balearic touches keep it from tipping into pure cheese, the guitar and a few softer percussion elements grounding the euphoria in something more human. It’s unashamed, arms-in-the-air music for people who miss when dance tracks weren’t embarrassed to feel things out loud. I’ve missed this sound more than I realized until it was playing.
