• Naeleck - Came To Meet My Fate (feat. Jeremy Lister & F8)

Had this on in the kitchen and caught myself conducting the drop with a wooden spoon, which is about as honest a review as I can give. Came To Meet My Fate is Naeleck in full widescreen mode, the French producer who’s spent the last couple of years welding motorsport energy onto big melodic electronic drops. Jeremy Lister’s vocal is the anchor, a proper singer rather than a chopped sample, selling a slightly overwrought lyric with enough conviction that you buy it anyway. The build is pure anticipation, strings and a four-on-the-floor kick ratcheting up until the drop arrives on a synth lead that sounds like it’s being driven at full throttle. F8’s touch shows up in the rhythmic programming, little stutters and gated edits that keep the back half from coasting. It’s unapologetically emotional dance music, built for the exact moment the sun drops behind a festival field and everyone decides to feel things at once. I’m not too cool for that, and neither, clearly, is my wooden spoon.
