This is dubstep with the garage still in its legs, and it is the good kind. msft has spent the better part of a decade welding together everything the UK bass underground threw off since the Croydon days, and I Feel Like is that homework paying rent. It moves sideways where you brace for a stomp, the shuffle pulling against the weight. The Italian producer keeps putting this out through UKF without ever becoming a headline name, which says more about how festival booking works than about the tracks. The low end is patient. It coils, it takes its time, then it drops something mean enough to earn the wait. The title doubles as the hook, that “I feel like” refrain surfacing and ducking back under the groove, and he gets more mileage out of one unfinished phrase than most producers wring from a full topline. I trust producers who treat the sub as an instrument rather than a blunt object, and this one does. Not the loudest record UKF pushed this month. One of the few with any hips.

msft - I Feel Like
1 minute. Shorter than the average Coldplay intro. Mercifully.
