If you’ve caught LP Giobbi live, you know she plays actual piano over house music like her life depends on it, and that keyboard-forward energy is all over “Do For Love.” Team her with Bruno Be and Carola and you get a warm, four-to-the-floor house record built around a big, hands-in-the-air piano riff and a vocal hook that wants to be sung back at it. This is feel-good house with real chops under the hood; LP Giobbi comes from a jazz-piano background and it shows in the little runs she can’t help sneaking into the breakdown. The groove is sturdy and unfussy, more interested in keeping you moving than impressing you. There’s a moment where the piano drops out and leaves just the vocal and a kick, and the second it comes crashing back is the payoff the whole track is built around. It’s the kind of record that makes a Sunday afternoon feel like it might turn into a Sunday night. Uncomplicated joy, expertly assembled.
