Josh One vs Salomé Le Chat - Contemplation (King Britt Funke Remix)

The title alone should get you in the mood. King Britt doing a funke remix of something called Contemplation — that’s a very specific vibe and it delivers exactly what it promises. Josh One vs Salomé Le Chat is already an interesting pairing on its own, but King Britt’s remix takes the original somewhere deeper. This is Defected doing what Defected does best — finding house tracks with genuine soul and giving them to the right people to make them something else entirely. The groove in this is the kind you don’t notice until you’re already moving. There’s an organ line about halfway through that I had to go back and listen to three times because I was convinced I misheard it. I didn’t. It’s just really good. King Britt has been in this music for three decades and it shows — he doesn’t remix things to stamp his name on them, he remixes things to finish them. Late night, lights low, this is the one.
